Biography

Dr. Audrey N. Hoffmann is an assistant professor in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling. Dr. Hoffmann provides clinical services to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or challenging behavior. She specializes in assessment and treatment methods for reducing challenging behavior and teaching socially appropriate skills. She is passionate about mentoring students in evidence-based practice and ethical decision-making within the field of applied behavioral science. Dr. Hoffmann serves as the Verified Course Sequence coordinator for the MS in ABA program. She also serves as Co-Director of the Behavior Support Services (BSS) within the Sorenson Center for Clinical Excellence.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Hoffmann teaches undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses in behavioral science and applied behavior analysis with course topics ranging from single-case designs, systems change, applying behavioral science within educational settings, functional assessment, supervision, and function-based interventions.

Research Interests

Dr. Hoffmann’s research interests revolve around behavior analysis applied to three main areas; the assessment and treatment of challenging behavior; staff training and supervision practices; and translational and applied research investigating high-tech reinforcers. She prioritizes the involvement of students in research and recognizes the importance of mentoring students in examining their research interests. She conducts research and supports student research in a variety of settings including schools, homes, and within services provided through the BSS in the Sorenson Center for Clinical Excellence.
