New York City Charter School Tour (2022)

The USU’s Center for the School of the Future team and leadership of Davis School District and C.S. Lewis Academy in Utah traveled together to New York City (NYC) to investigate the incredible student academic learning results being achieved in select NYC charter schools. The team spent a day at a KIPP Academy School, and another day in a Success Academy School. This trip’s purpose was to benchmark these two schools’ processes, and to draw from them the systemic elements that are coordinated to achieve such a strong student learning product. The team was able to unearth a substantial body of information that clarified how such high levels of learning are being achieved, and with sufficient understanding that they could bring broad principles and specific practices back to Utah for implementation. Further investigation will occur in 2023.
