The Parks and Recreation academic program is reviewed by the Council on Accreditation (COA) every five years with a complete formal review every ten years. The next five year review will take place Fall 2009. Information about the COA can be accessed at www.councilonaccreditation.org
Mission Statement
The purpose of the degree program in Parks and Recreation is to prepare individuals to become professionals in the public, private, and commercial settings of recreation. The philosophy of the Parks and Recreation Program is centered in the belief that to develop professionals who have the capacity, insight, drive, and desire to function with vision, authority, and confidence requires a broad and extensive background in both academic and practical experience. It is our mission to provide these kinds of experiences.
