Hello everyone and welcome to the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. We have student-focused faculty, great facilties and are next door to world-class recreational pursuits. With us you have the opportunity to study in several disciplines: Parks and Recreation; Community Health Education, Exercise Science, and teacher professional preparation in Physical Education and School Health.
Graduates of our programs work in a range of professions such as Municipal Parks and Recreation Programs, Regional and State Health Departments, teach in elementary and secondary schools, provide leadership in corporate fitness and cardiac rehabilitation programs. We have excellent collaborations with state Health and Parks and Recreation programs, plus local and regional school districts for students to gain valuable experiences in professional training.
Many graduates successfully gain entry into advanced degree programs in Physical and Occupational Therapy or Medical Schools. Our undergraduate curriculum provides an excellent preparation for these graduate programs. As an undergraduate student you receive first-class instruction from our accomplished faculty teaching in classrooms equipped with state-of-art technology. As a student you have access to staff dedicated to providing expert advising services to help you plan your academic career.
Our HPER building is located in the heart of campus and provides a hub for both learning and recreational pursuits for the campus community. Our building allows you to learn, recreate and network with faculty and fellow students. We have laboratories dedicated to student learning and research in exercise physiology and biomechanics. Additionally, in collaboration with USU Sports Medicine, we conduct research projects at the Dale Mildenberger Sports Medicine Center. Undergraduate and graduate students have opportunities and are encouraged to work with faculty in all research efforts.
